How to Book Confirmed Tatkal Train Tickets [IRCTC]

Tatkal ticket is the only way when you have to travel by train in emergency. It can be booked 2 days before departure date of traveling. Problem is that get it that you don’t get Confirmed Tatkal Tickets as quota is less.

Not just the less quota is responsible for it but also there are many issues like Server Failure (due to load or done deliberately), Mass booking by IRCTC Agents and moreover Luck.

Here, I will share some tricks using scripts and addons by which you can get a confirmed tatkal ticket on the go. Most of the Time is consumed filling up form details so, we’ll try to minimize that first.

Tatkal Train ticket booking starts at 8 AM. So, you need to gear up early (say 7:30 AM) to make all the settings to make form filling and bank transaction speedier.

What all you need to get Confirmed Tatkal Tickets

  • Firefox browser. Download from the bottom right button saying “Get Firefox”
  • Install Autofill Addon and restart Firefox.

Presuming that you are following the procedure before 8 AM. Login to IRCTC website and click on Quick Book under Services Menu.

If name is not edited, form profile will be saved as www.irctc.co.in.

All set, now when the clock reads 8:00:00 AM, click on Quick Book. Right click on anywhere on page and select
“Fill out this form >> www.irctc.co.in”

Book Confirm Tatkal Ticket IRCTC

You may have to run the script mentioned above again if the page prompts saying “Sorry, You don’t have permission to right click”

Book Confirm Tatkal Ticket IRCTC

Done, Hit on Quick Book button at the bottom of page to continue bank transaction. It is recommended to disable SMS High Security PIN for IRCTC as it will again eat up some time.

Tips while booking Tatkal Tickets

Personally, I booked 3 confirm tatkal tickets in two days. What you have take care during complete procedure is not to refresh the page or hit any button again being impatient. This will result in Failure at later stage.

No matter how many times you are welcomed with page reading “Service Unavailable“, open the IRCTC homepage in new tab and continue login following the procedure. It doesn’t take more than 20 seconds to do so.

What does CKWL Tatkal Ticket means?

In rare chance, it may happen that while moving on to bank webpage, you are shown Availability but till you come back, the ticket provided has status CKWL.

CKWL means the Waiting List in Tatkal Quota which differs from GNWL (General Waiting List). In my case, CKWL 5 was cleared up within 2 hours of booking but it may vary train to train.

The above procedure tries to minimize the time spent in filling up forms and speed up tatkal booking so, you can grab confirm tatkal ticket before the quota is over. Good Luck and let us know your success rate in getting a confirm tatkal ticket.ou may

You may feel that procedure is too lengthy to follow but read it once completely, it will take time in first shot especially for non tech-savvy people but it is easy to follow and a matter of getting Confirmed Tatkal Tickets :)

Users are also advised not to open Orkut account until the problem solved. Orkut had just last month announced new updates to the . It’s a second time Orkut got affected by this kind of viruses. The same virus has hit Orkut last Feb also.

A few hours back, the Bom Sabado virus seems to have started and now it is all over orkut scraps that spreading from friend to friends. It is an auto generated message which is filing your scrapebooks. The scraps come from the friend list and it comes just like any other normal orkut scraps. Users are also advised not to open such scraps. The bug is hitting your cookies and automatically sending messages to your friend list.

If anyone reads this scrap even in their profile, their cookies are also stoled and so they are also posting scrap automatically to their friend list same scrap as bomb something like.

Orkut officials have not clear yet that the Bom Sabado is a virus or not. In week, this is a second XSS attack on a social networking . The popular microblogging Twitter was also attacked by a computer worm created by Norwegian. Twitter was received an XSS exploit, the attack, which emerged and was shut down within hours Tuesday morning and involved a XSS flaw that allowed users to run JavaScript programs on other computers.

Solutions:-

  • Do not visit any profile on Orkut till this script is blocked
  • Clear your cookies and cache right away and change your password and security question.

[UPDATES]

Users are getting scraps from their friends with the message "2008 vem ai… que ele comece mto bem para vc". Even if they try to read their scraps They can get hacked. There is an XSS (Cross site scripting) prevailing in the scrapbook, which allows the execution of malicious script, which can perform following actions,

  • Stealing their cookies
  • Logging them out and redirecting them to a fake page
  • Logging them out and redirecting them to a page which automatically installs keylogger, viruses in their computer system

As soon as they read this scrap even in their profile, their cookies are also stolen and so they are also posting scrap automatically to their friend list same scrap as bomb something like the script is running on and also in status of profile their falg is coming. Status is automatically updated in some profile. It’s their flag of Brazil. So team is working on it.

Now you should do is,

Follow these steps:

1. Immediately change your password and security question {including secondary email and mobile number if they also got changed.) This will solve the problem.

2. Find out whether some communities have been joined automatically. If yes, do remove them.

3. If your account has been completely hacked, then click on this .com/support/forum/p/orkut/thread?tid=39fa418ed1162078&hl=en” rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”>url

Ex-Google News, Bing Engineers Set Out To Build ‘Newspaper Of The Future’

by Robin Wauters on Jul 16, 2010

Delivering news digitally in a personalized manner is a nut many a startup – as well as many established Internet companies and publishers – are desperately trying to crack.

A newly-founded Palo Alto startup called Hawthorne Labs is one of them.

Today, the company released their first application, dubbed APOLLO, for the iPad (iTunes link – screenshots and video below). Their lofty ambition is to become the number one daily destination of top personalized news content from around the Web, build a genuine Newspaper of the Future™, and thus “deliver the final blow to the newspaper industry”.

Apollo is quite similar to Pandora in that it uses an algorithm (using factors such as time spent on articles, sources favorited, articles liked/not-liked as well as social elements like Twitter and Facebook mentions and similar peoples’ tastes etc.) to help users discover the best content for them in a variety of categories (Top News, Business, Tech, Sports and so on).

The app crawls thousands of the top blogs and news sources on the Web within said categories, ranks them, and clusters related articles together.

The user interface reminds me a lot of Pulse, another great news consumption app for the iPad. Hawthorne Labs plans to expand Apollo to the iPhone, the Android platform and in the form of a general Web application at a later stage.

The iPad app is priced $4.99, but will be $2.99 until Monday July 19. The first 100 TechCrunch readers to retweet this article and add the hashtag #freeapollo (ha ha, retweet bots!) are getting a promotion code for the app on iTunes.

World domination plans aside, the startup does seem to have a great team with relevant experience on their hands.

The three Hawthorne Labs co-founders are Evan Reas, a self-declared ‘Stanford MBA turned Bizhacker’ and former Google News and Bing engineers Shubham Mittal (the top ranked student at IIT-Delhi and a Gold Medalist at the International Physics Olympiad) and Prasanna Sankaranarayanan (who was a Google World Code Jam finalist, twice, and has far too many ‘a’s in his name to be healthy).

Fun factoid: these guys built the app before the iPad was even released, and as soon the tablet computer hit the market they tried to provision iPads in stores to test the early versions, only to get yelled at a lot. How’s that for some bootstrappin’ persistence?

Opera 10.60 Beta Released (And It Finally Includes Linux Builds Too)

    opera 10.60 beta linux

Opera 10.60 Beta has been released for Windows, Linux/FreeBSD and MacOS X. This is the first Linux beta ever since Opera started working on Opera 10.5x and 10.6x (so there were only alpha Opera 10.5x and 10.6x builds for Linux up until now).

This new builds add WebM, Geolocation, Web Workers, HTML5 offline Web Applications, Cross-Document Messaging update and many more. In addition to these new/improved features there are quite a few bug fixes for Linux/FreeBSD as well as performance and core updates.

This build is official (not just a daily snapshot) which means you can download Opera 10.60 beta from the Opera website (Ubuntu .deb included).

Wireless Woes Rain ‘Fail’ on Steve Jobs’ Keynote | Gadget Lab | Wired.com

Gizmodo’s leak of the iPhone 4 already made Monday’s Apple keynote slightly awkward. But the most uncomfortable moment was when part of Steve Jobs’ iPhone 4 demo failed due to Wi-Fi issues.

Watching the video below (shot by IDG), you can almost feel the increasing frustration of the CEO, and you can only imagine what was going on backstage to resolve the problem.

After about a minute of troubleshooting — and a failed attempt to connect to AT&T’s 3G network instead — Jobs explained that over 500 Wi-Fi devices were being used in the crowd, likely causing interference with his demo unit. He even asked bloggers to stop doing their jobs for the sake of the demo.

“All you bloggers need to turn off your base stations,” Jobs said. “If you want to see the demos, shut off your laptops, turn off all these MiFi base stations and put them on the floor, please.”

At one point Jobs asked Scott Forstall, vice president of iPhone (now “iOS”) software, if he had any suggestions, and someone in the crowd shouted “Verizon!”

Google also ran into similar network problems that stalled its demonstration of Google TV last month. In Apple’s case, Jobs was referring to users of Verizon’s MiFi, a device that creates a portable hot spot that can be shared by up to 5 users. Some smartphones, such as the Palm Pre and some modified Android phones, are also capable of serving as a hot spot. The iPhone currently permits tethering (a one-to-one connection with a laptop) but AT&T has not permitted that service for its customers, and the iPhone can only act as a hot spot if it has been jailbroken.

With over 500 Wi-Fi hot spots in a room of 5,000 people, it’s a sign of how popular hot-spot–sharing devices or features have become.

To be fair, if Verizon were the iPhone’s carrier, it would likely suffer from the same issues as AT&T. But the problem of an overloaded cellular network would be mitigated if the iPhone were available on multiple carriers as opposed to just one. During his glitchy keynote, Jobs was probably feeling our wireless woesmore than any other day.

Another Round Of Layoffs At Yahoo, Search Team Gets Hit

Yahoo has laid off part of its search team as part of a new restructuring move, we’ve learned. Yahoo declined to comment on the number of people who were affected, but did confirm that there were layoffs in its Search group and gave us the following statement:

“Yahoo! remains focused on innovating the overall Search experience over the long-term, and the Yahoo! Search group is hard at work on some new experiences that we believe will convert Yahoo! users to Yahoo! searchers. To accomplish our new product objectives, we have decided that we need a different combination of talent and are making changes within the search group in order to more deeply invest in other areas of the group. “

Yahoo is, of course, outsourcing its search engine to Bing as part of a deal that was forged between Yahoo and Microsoft last year. It’s unclear if the layoffs are directly related to the deal, but it seems likely. Soon after the search deal was announced, Yahoo CEO Carol Bartzalluded to future layoffs as a result of the integration.

Yahoo previously held a major round of layoffs last spring, when it cut 5% of its staff, or around 700 people.

    Google in stealth mode

    Google

Google has launched the secure version of its iconic search engine, where all traffic is encryptedusing SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and can't be snooped upon by search-habit analysts or network snoopers. Google has killed three birds with one shot:

First, it silenced the critics, who earlier this week accused Google's ad agency, DoubleClick, of collecting user data from social networking sites. Google has shown its commitment to safeguarding the privacy of users.

Second, it warded off the search-habit analysts who've been using the referral addresses to see what keywords were searched, to reach which site. This allows sites to edit meta-tag data to push their sites higher up the search order. Most browsers remove these referrers when navigating from a secure site to an insecure one.

Third, it put itself further ahead of its rival search engines - now that users would prefer Google as it would safeguard them on the local network, even when the network is insecure. So they will avoid passing information to agencies, err...like Google. Yes, it would certainly help Google's case in Street View Car debacle where the camera-fitted cars collected user data through insecure WiFi connections in homes.

The secure search engine is currently in the Beta stage and can be reached at https://www.google.com (notice the extra 'S'). It's in Beta stage to undergo tests regarding its feasibility in establishing secure, encrypted connections can increase the search time and also bog down the servers.

    Fibre Channel Glossary

D L P B C : Dual Loop Port Bypass Circuitry. FC-AL routing circ u i t ry that makes it possible to add and remove nodes without disrupting the network.

Dynamic path: Communication path in which any node can communicate with any other node (assuming no third node is already communicating with the target). See Permanent path.

E-port: A connection that links multiple Fibre Channel fabrics.

F a b r i c : Fibre Channel communication network topology, typically with 16 nodes, each of which can be an FC-AL comprising 125 nodes. A Fibre Channel fabric usually employs a Fibre Channel switch or crossbar switch to provide direct connections between node pairs.

FC adapter: Fibre Channel adapter or host adapter. A Fibre Channel I/O bus adapter board that operates at 100MBps in half-duplex mode, 200MBps in full-duplex mode.

F C - A L : Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop. A ring-style network topology comprising 125 nodes, usually configured as a double loop to protect the system against device failure.

    F C S I : Fibre Channel Systems Initiative formed by Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and Sun in 1993.

FC switch: Fibre Channel switch. Intelligently manages connections between ports, routing frames d y n a m i c a l l y. A nonblocking topology, it allows multiple exchanges of information to occur at the same time between ports. A switch offers better system throughput than a hub, but at greater expense. Some switches have a special FL-port to link arbitrated loops and other devices on the switch. By cascading multiple switches, more than 16 million devices can be connected together.

    F r a m e : Data packet, a unit of data transmitted within a Fibre Channel system.

    F - p o rt : Port that connects a node to a Fibre Channel fabric.

    F L - p o rt : Port that connects an FC-AL to a fabric.

Hub: Cable concentrator for FC-AL networks. A hub is a static device that monitors each of its ports to determine whether devices are requesting to join the loop. It does not route frames dynamically.

J B O D : Just a bunch of drives. Any collection of disk drives not configured into a RAID.

L I P : Loop Initialization Protocol. Part of the FC-AL standard for reconfiguring the system when nodes are added or removed from the loop.

LRC: Loop Resiliency Circuit. Hub circuitry that allows devices to be inserted into or removed from an active FC-AL loop.

M I A : Media Interface Adapter. Converts electrical signals into optical signals and vice versa.

N o d e : Device connected to a Fibre Channel fabric, possibly a PC, disk drive, or RAID array, as well as an FC-AL.

N - p o rt : Port that connects a node to Fibre Channel system. In a PC, the N-Port would be on an I/O bus adapter board.

    N L - p o rt : Port that connects a node to an FC-AL.

Permanent path: Fixed communication path be-tween nodes that provides guaranteed bandwidth. See Dynamic path.

Port: Locus of connection between a node and a Fibre Channel system.

S A N : Storage Area Network. A centralized stor-age repository that provides physical security in an environmentally regulated location. The data in a SAN can be easily managed (i.e., backed up regularly, etc.) and is protected from equipment, software, and procedural failures.
